We have full funding for Phase I of eBART," said BART Board President Gail Murray. "The proposed project adds 10 miles to the BART system.
When completed, the eBART extension will be a triple-win scenario for the Bay Area. Not only will eBART help ease congestion on Highway 4 and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gases, it will be a foundation for future BART expansion in East Contra Costa County."
PHASE 1: PITTSBURG TO ANTIOCH The eBART extension would use Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train technology to connect passengers to conventional BART trains at the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART Station. eBART would provide service from the Pittsburg/Bay Point BART station, with tracks in the Highway 4 median, a station near Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg, and a station near Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch. Future phases could extend DMU trains past Antioch to Oakley, Brentwood, Byron/Discovery Bay and beyond.
